I love using cookie cutters to make sandwiches for our Bento Boxes. My 3rd grader is on this Nutella sandwhich kick and I am bored to tears. So I decided to pull out the cookie cutters and have some fun! It’s really simple! I purchased my cutters from William & Sonoma. They were on sale!! I think the quality is great. I’ve had them for a year and they still work beautifully. So here we go.
You will need: fresh and soft bread, a hard surface, cutting board and whatever you’re filling your sandwich with.
First: cutters
There is a knob with a spring that pushes the imprint of your cutter onto the bread.
Now, I let the bread supply dictate the cutter I use. If I need to conserve bread then I use a cutter like the green or blue one because I can get two impressions from one slice with only crust left over. If my bread supply is balling out of control then I use Tow Mater or the red cutter cause I only get one impression per slice
I’m gonna show you both! Why, cause I’m generous like that!
Get it on there right to the edge!
Here’s the trick: Cut out your shape completely THEN press the plate down
Press the button again and peel off your creation!
That’s the top. Here’s the bottom. I don’t press the bottom. I just cut it. I like my sandwich to have a little girth. I want to give em something’ to sink their teeth into.
Here they are! This whole things takes about 1.5 minutes. 🙂
Here is my guy Tow Mater:
Time to fill em’ I chose peanut butter because I’m sick of Nutella, thank you Michael.
If you want to be extra fancy you can fill in the impression with a food pen.
Kinda goofy and cute. Now, if you want to be extra super fancy you can whip out the black icing and piping tips!!
It just got serious. LOL
Good enough to eat! (Poor Mater, but he was yummy)
Hope you enjoy making all kinds of fun things. Send us a picture of your creation!!
Looks great!
